Don Diego de la Vega, the only son of aristocrat Don Alejandro, returns to 1820s California to fight the corrupt tyrants of Spanish California as the masked swordsman Zorro. Marking his presence with the distinctive "Z", carved with the tip of his sword when justice is served, the masked rider is the hero of the oppressed.
